Thousands Celebrate Love, Diversity, and Pride at The Pink Picnic 2025
Peel Park came alive with colour, music, and celebration as The Pink Picnic 2025 welcomed thousands of people from across Salford and beyond to champion equality, diversity, and inclusion. The city’s biggest LGBTQ+ festival once again proved why local Pride events are such a vital part of community life, bringing people together, fostering acceptance, and creating safe spaces for everyone to be their true selves.
The main stage pulsed with energy throughout the day, featuring an incredible lineup that included Cher Lloyd, Natasha Hamilton, Ultrabeat, Tameko Star, and local Drag Race favourite Banksie. Their performances kept crowds singing, dancing, and celebrating from start to finish, with a shared spirit of love and pride filling the park.
Beyond the stage, the event buzzed with activity. The Community Expo showcased a diverse range of local organisations, groups, and charities, highlighting the incredible work being done across Salford and beyond to support LGBTQ+ people and their allies. Meanwhile, the market stalls offered an opportunity for local business owners and makers to shine, celebrating creativity, craftsmanship, and community entrepreneurship.
Families and young people found their place in the vibrant Youth Zone, which featured outdoor games, inflatables, badge-making with Salford Youth Zone, and the ever-popular Drag Queen Story Hour. The area provided a fun, safe, and educational space for children and teens to learn about inclusion and LGBTQ+ culture in an age-appropriate and engaging way.
For 2025, the Queer Collective Stage, showcased the incredible depth of local talent, from drag and dance to spoken word and comedy. This platform gave emerging performers the chance to share their stories, express their creativity, and connect with audiences in meaningful ways.
But The Pink Picnic is more than just a day of celebration. Events like this play a vital role in strengthening communities, boosting local economies, and improving wellbeing. They provide visibility for LGBTQ+ people in towns and cities across the UK, helping to break down stigma and promote understanding. Local Prides also offer opportunities for education, volunteering, and partnership, uniting residents, businesses, and organisations in a shared commitment to equality and inclusion.
As the sun set over Peel Park, the spirit of The Pink Picnic 2025 was clear: Salford stands proud, diverse, and united. The event once again proved that Pride is not just a party, it’s a powerful reminder of community, visibility, and the ongoing journey toward acceptance and equality for all.
